This rug was so, so fun to hook. I started it at a gathering of friends. See the flower in the left lower corner? It's a solid brown color. All the flowers were going to be this. I just knew that I had lots of it at home. But upon arriving home, I found I had no more of it. None. Zilch. Zero. So I worked in other colors and shades of browns. I really like it. Plus, I figure when rugs were made long ago they worked with what they had. so that's just what I havevdone.
Now to on why I had disappeared. The past 18 months have been rough ones. I've had so many health related problems. I have esophageal achalasia, and had surgery to help with the regurgitation, last June. It helped, but I still have trouble swallowing and still throw up some. A week post op I felt this small ooze sensation in my lower back. It didn't hurt then, but the next day I was in pain, and it got worse, and worse. I had a third back surgery in October. During the interval between the two surgeries I had bilateral cataract surgery. I had rapidly advancing cataracts, developed in less than a year. I thought I was going blind because it happened so fast. I was recovering quite nicely, and then, a severe cause of sciatica. Oh my, that was worse than the back surgery. I'm finally on the mend.
And being on the mend I have started sewing and hooking again. I went to a hook-in in February. Seven of us rented a house for the weekend and hooked, and ate, and did some shopping. I started this flower and pony rug. And then finished hooking it within a month.
I will admit that I didn't get it bound until last week. This was such a fun rug to hook.
Hopefully I'm back, with regularity.
Sue
