Last Thursday I attended the monthly meeting of the Blackfork Quilt Group. We aren't a guild as there are no rules, no fees, just lots of fun. We take turns bringing in the food, giving demonstrations, etc. It's a good group of ladies.
I make quilts, mostly for donation. This month a got back two donation quilts. I still need to add the binding.
The first one is also a "challenge" quilt. The folks who wanted to participate bought a one yard piece of fabric that we are to use in a 3 yard quilt. I found the patterns a bit boring. To make the most use of the fabrics the blocks were simple and fairly large. At least I think so.
Here's the fabric,
The quilt.
I turned one of the blocks wrong, but it's already quilted, so...
The back of the challenge quilt.
This is a sheet I found at the thrift store. I thought the alligators (or are they crocodiles) and the grasshoppers were just so cute. I chose the color green to use in the quilt so it would match the back.
This also is a donation quilt, mainly because it didn't turn out as I had imagined and I don't care for it. Someone will like it.
My longarm quilter is awesome. She does the quilting for free if it's a quilt that will be donated.
