A New Project

I finished up the hooking part of the hook along rug. I still need to zigzag the edges, steam and bind. Oh the extremely fun part of making rugs.

I started a new project last Sunday at my hooking group.

Mittens. I have a spot in my kitchen that I would like to have a small monthly rug to hang. For January it will be these mittens. February will be hearts. I finished that one last fall. And I think for March I'll do a beeskep.

I'm using worms. I don't think I'll need to cut anything for the blue background. And I'm pretty sure I can get a fifth mitten hooked without cutting any neutrals. My neutrals worms are getting pretty low.

Many of my worms are what I consider ugly. Just the wrong color or too plaidy. I'm going to try to overdye some of them. I'm going to start with onion skin dying.

Next week I'm going to Florida for a rug camp with Lucille Festa. I'm looking forward to camp, but not the drive there and back. Today the temperature in Jacksonville was 78'. When we get there it's forecasted to be 60'. Cooler, but beats Ohio weather.

I've got my wools ready to pack. I still need to enlarge and draw out my pattern. This is the rug I chose.

I don't know if I'll do similar colors. Lucille wrote to me saying, I am a primitive teacher, do not be surprised by what I have to say. Hmmm.

I have bunches to do before we leave next week. I'll be travelling with Lauren (rugs n pugs). Should be an excellent week.

  1. I've hooked individual mittens with a wool back that held greens inside and maybe one day will do what you've done with mittens in a row.
Looking forward to seeing how Lucille color plans your dog rug.

  2. Nice idea to have switch outs for each month or even season. I'm jealous...I know you two will have fun.
