Today is a Hook & Thread Society meeting day. We meet at the local library and hook and talk for about 3-4 hours. I enjoy the fellowship, a lot. And I am hooking more because I need something to work on while I'm there. I can't just talk the whole time.
I'm almost done with the hooking on my Dog with Basket rug. After today's meeting I should be all done with that part. She's turning out really well. I went ahead and put that sunshiny looking thing on the big blob on the right. Mostly because I didn't know what else to put in there. I am making it pink. And I think it will look okay.
I'm going to need a new project, and soon. On my list are Kinderhook. This is the one my friend, Sheila Kennedy, hooked. I love the colors she chose.
Or Lancaster Barnyard. This was a line drawing I ordered from Lori Brechlin at Notforgotten Farm. It's already on linen and ready to go. Lauren took a yard of light colored wool and overdyed it for me. I'm excited to see it later today, as she is coming to the meeting.
Or I could wait a few days until my package arrived. I bought a very large, very huge pattern. It's 48x60 and will be the largest rug I've ever hooked. This one is a surprise.
A couple of months ago I had new neighbors move in. They asked me about cutting down my walnut tree that is towards their house. I said let's get an estimate and talk about it more. I came home from errands one day and..... They had someone already taking down my tree. Boy was I upset. I still am. I'm pretty sure I will never be friends with these neighbors. What a bad start to a relationship. But anyways. The wife proceeds to tell me they are sorry. The husband yells at me that I cost him as he had to pay the whole bill and then I kept the wood that he was going to sell. What,??? It was my tree.
It got me thinking. I hate to pick up those walnuts. I can't grow the fruit trees I want in the backyard because of the jugulone poisoning the walnut trees put out. So I decided to have the other two trees cut down also. And they paid me. Thousands. I had the stumps ground down but left the tops. My son said he'll clean it up and we'll get done firewood out of it.
It's still very cold with 12" of snow that will be here for a while. The forecast is for another 7" next weekend. Don't you love this weather modification?
I do not. Stay safe, stay warm.
Sue
