Hooking, Cooking, & Shoveling Snow

The great snow storm of 2026 is over. Hopefully the snow has stopped. We got 11 1/2". That's a lot of snow. It's not supposed to be above freezing for another 8-10 days, so it's going to hang around awhile. We did not get sleet or ice. We did not lose power. And for those things I am grateful.

The snow is very pretty

My son came over this morning and used the snow blower to clear my drive. I have a private drive I share with the neighbor across the street. So he has to clear the drive that is perpendicular to the drive you see. I decided to help with the shoveling part. It's a light fluffy snow so it wasn't heavy. Thank goodness. I shoveled close to the house, around the van, and the porch. I then cleaned off the van. Then I had to shovel again. So much snow.

Below is my son Jeremy, AKA Iceman.

I kept busy hooking and cooking. I made some delicious chicken with mashed potatoes and an onion gravy. Yum. And I got quite a bit of hooking related stuff done.

I finished a little bit of hooking, then steamed, zigzagged and applied the wool binding.

I finished hooking up what I call I lost my mitten. This has a simple fold over and stitch into place.

And plodding along on my dog with basket rug. One blotch done, two to go. I really like the naivety of this rug. It's so simple.

Stay safe, stay warm. Sue

  1. You got more snow than I did, but it been snowing all flippin’ day. Enough already. My son did my drive and sidewalks last evening. Since it is a light fluffy snow, I did go out and shovel it again.
Great picture of Jeremy. Bbbbrrrrrr 🥶
Great progress on all your hooking. I love the name of your mitten rug. When I saw it, I didn’t realize that there was one mitten that didn’t have a mate.
You will soon be done with your camp rug. I have not pulled one loop on mine 😢
    Stay warm!!!

  3. We had about 6 inches. The roads were not in the best shape yesterday morning but we had to go out for dr. appts. Great pic of Jeremy. Hubby had to shovel us out because our snowblower was not working. UGH I love all of your rugs, but especially your latest dog one. Janice
