A Finish

Well at least I'm finished with the hooking part of the Warm Friendship rug. After I got going it was hard to stop. I ended up using more gold than I had intended, but I ran out of neutrals. I used up a lot of worms (or noodles) hooking this rug. I really would like to add a braided edging. I know how to braid, kind of, but I don't know how to make the two ends meet up without a huge lump. If I do add a braid it'll be done with dark brown, red, and tan. Yesterday I steamed it and now it sits and waits. Just like the Low Country Garden floral rug.

I know several of you add a label. I've not ever done that. It would be kinda nice, as many of my rugs I simply don't remember the pattern name or designer.  So ... Are you a labeler or not??

We're expecting really bad weather. However, the last two times they issued a severe thunderstorm warning we barely got any rain at all. Y'all hunker down and take care.

Miss Lucy

This is my Princess Cat Lucy. When she wants attention she's very friendly, but most of the time she's that typical aloof cat. She mostly stays inside. She's a fair weather cat. If it's too hot (over 80) or too cold (under 40) she's inside. Kinda like me. I think the hawks also scare her. Sometimes they are circling and screeching overhead.

Last month I had a mouse in the house. Was she any help? NO!!! But she did bring home a baby rabbit, a chipmunk, and a bird. I guess she can only hunt outdoors. Silly girl.

Lucy came to me while living in Georgia. My friend's daughter brought her home. She did not want her. All I asked was "is she fixed". And just like that Lucy became mine. My friend sent her to the vet for a checkup and spay. I picked her up on a Tuesday morning from the vet's office. That was 12 years ago.

I've noticed this past year her face has changed. I guess she's getting older, again just like me.

Pictures From Rug Camp

This was a two day rug camp in Millersburg, Ohio. Our teacher was Jan Cole of Wool'n Gardener. Most of the hookers were primitive hookers. Two of them were hooking with hand torn strips. I like that look, it just hurts me to hook with that size of a strip. Enjoy the show.

Me. This is me!

This lovely antelope is hooked with hand torn strips.

This one is hooked with very, I mean very, wide hand torn strips.

Isn't this cute? Mama and her babies.

This was definitely a fun camp. Next year will be Maria Barton of Star Rug Company. Yay.

Millersburg Rug Hooking Camp

This is my rug I hooked on at camp. Our teacher was Jan Cole. It was her first time ever teaching at a rug camp. And I have to say, she was wonderful. She was so kind, and helpful, and knowledgeable.  She's mostly known for her beautiful hand dyed wools. And beautiful they were. She specifically dyed the wools used in the house. She said they were not her typical colors but they look great. My pattern is an antique reproduction drawn up by Saundra of Woodland Junction. I've been very pleased with patterns from Saundra. They are always so well drawn out.

This camp was only two days so I didn't get a lot accomplished. I might put in a dog instead of the turkey. And I'm not sure of the three stars, or flowers, whatever is along the top border. I'm not a purist when hooking reproductions. I will change it to my liking. I'm just not sure what that is just yet.

Lauren had originally planned to go to this camp but she had another event come up. She made a cute little pouch using a pencil pouch. What's interesting is that we both purchased the same plaid wool. She used it in her flower and top trim, I used it for the big tree.

Tomorrow I'm headed to Niagara Falls with two of my grandchildren and my ex-daughter-in-law. Yes, I get along with her, and also with my daughter -in-law. Each one is the mom to each of the kids. They are so excited. This will be my third time to the falls. It is within easy driving distance from where we live. Mac, the 5 year old wants to go to the ocean. He wants to see it, but doesn't want to swim in it because of the sharks. His folks are way into shark week. But maybe next year.

A New Purple Pillow

Lexi gave me this pillow when she was four years old. It is well loved. It's just the right size for sleeping on. This pillow has gone m...
