Big Dog i s Sick

My older and bigger dog is under the weather, snout is swollen, just not feeling good. I took him to the vet, he thinks it's an abscessed tooth. Thinks. He can't be sure. So tomorrow he goes in for teeth cleaning and possible extraction(s). He started him on antibiotics and pain medicine. I got him some canned food and made him some rice. So he ate well. Hope all goes well. I love this big dog.

Just in Time or It's Finished

It's finished!!!! And just in time. This is my Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt 2018, called Good Fortune. I went with her color choices, except used grays instead of off whites. It's a bit bright for me, I tend to go more primitive and reproduction. But my youngest son said he really likes it.
And it's a good thing it's finished because the new mystery quilt starts soon. Tomorrow Bonnie will release colors and fabric requirements. I like that she links her colors up to paint chips from Lowe's. I am excited. The pattern clues don't start til Black Friday. By then I'll be in Georgia, and am so glad I can pack up the needed fabric. I love scrap quilts. I can't imagine packing for a scrap quilt without knowing the colors.
I drive a little Honda Fit. And let me tell you. That thing is packed full when I go back and forth. And it's a 12 hour drive. Now add in 2 dogs and a cat (with her litter pan), and all the necessities needed for months of being a snowbird. I am hoping for no snow before leaving. But it sure is getting chilly. Anything close to 50' is chilly. Lol.
  Have a wonderful day, Sue

More Quilty Goods

I also nabbed a couple of quilt tops last week. I'm in a pink phase. I especially like bubblegum pinks. These are both about lap size. I may add a border to the star quilt, but I think I'll just finish the bubblegum and blue as is.
Several years ago I went to a shop hop in the Atlanta area. Got to the hotel room, and examined ( and petted) my purchase. That's when I realized I had bought mostly bubblegum pinks and reproduction browns. I cut into them once in awhile, but I still haven't made my pink and brown quilt.
I have several other lines of fabrics that I just haven't been able to cut up and use. I guess I'm waiting for that perfect pattern. So Ruby and Larkspur sit on a shelf and someday will make a beautiful quilt. Someday. And someday my prince will come.

Quilty Goods

The other day a quilting friend said "c'mon over and go through this stuff". One of her quilting friends has Alzheimer's and her husband has donated her "stuff". Ten or so people had already gone through it by the time I got there.

There was pieced quilt tops, blocks, and so much fabric. I didn't want to seem greedy, and felt I took alot. My friend says to come back next week for more. And I just might. I picked up a couple panels, a couple tops, some yardage, and old blocks. I think these blocks excite me the most.

I see an orphan block quilt in my future. As with my rugs, it takes me longer to plan it than to piece it.

Have a super great day, Sue

Nutty

My newest creation, just in time for fall. And fall it is. The weather is cooler, especially at night. It's been getting into the 30s. it will be time to head south soon.
Anyways, back to my rug. The pattern is called Nutty, a Cactus Needle pattern. It turned out so stinking cute. The tail was hooked with fuzzy yarn and a variegated ribbon, both found at the thrift store for less than a dollar each. I love thrifting. The raised areas in the acorn are small wool balls I picked up at the Sauder Village rug show - last year. It takes me longer to plan a rug than to hook it.
Here in Ohio there are plenty of other hookers, meetings, places to buy supplies. But once I get to Georgia there's no one. And I mean no one. Well there is, but they are
2 1/2 hours away, so it just doesn't happen. I pretty much live in the middle of nowhere. But I do love it. No neighbors, no HOA. Simple country living.
a quick pic of my youngest grandson. What a cutie!!

A New Purple Pillow
