New Quilt

Although this is not a Bonnie Hunter pattern, it was inspired by Bonnie. Several months ago Bonnie showed an antique quilt on her blog, her side triangles were in cheddar. It was lovely. Then a friend gave me some scrappy 9 patches and I remembered this quilt. I think mine turned out lovely too.
I messed up the back, it was too short on one side. How embarrassing!! I have made fun of people who do this. Don't they measure?? Then I did it too. I did measure. Obviously, I measured the same side twice. So my quilter used what she had, muslin. Plain old muslin. And I love it. I love the simplicity of the finished product.

I brought this quilt to Georgia, it fits the cabin.
The weather has been wonderful. Although it doesn't feel Christmassy this week with it being so warm. I even was out weed whacking today. I love it. And the dogs love it.

Hanging On

My little rose bush is still hanging in. One new bloom. One glorious, pink bud. It made me smile.

It's a bit chilly at 45', supposed to get up to 54'. Home is 21/37, so it's all relative.
I am so looking forward to rug camp. Kris Miller will be my teacher. I'm going to do an antique adaptation, called "A Friendly Confrontation" . I want it to look like Henry and Marley. I'm upstairs. Yep, gotta climb a ladder to get up here. I'll show you more on another post.

This is also an antique adaptation. I used what I had. Isn't that what would have been done years ago?? At first I wasn't pleased, as I felt the color combos could have been better. But now I'm really liking it.

I'll catch y'all later.

Baby it's cold outside

It's so cold, Marley got a new hat! He sure doesn't seem to like it very much, but he keeps it on.

I see scraps on my floor. I'm working on the Bonnie Hunter 2019 mystery quilt. She's named this one "Frolic". I start out strong, then I wonder why I'm doing another quilt with a gazillion pieces. I've liked most of them. but I'm still not liking last years. I think it's more the colors, it's too bright. So this year I'm working with reproduction fabrics. Think browns, bubblegum pinks, medium blues, and one more. I have a lovely celery green, but I'm still thinking purple or cheddar. I hope to go to the quilt shop before I'm forced to use that green.

Crown Royal

My son's girlfriend (and Mac's mom) asked me to make a new quilt for them. One that was big enough for them all too sleep under together and still be covered. She suggested 120" square . I gasped. I've not made anything that big. Could I handle it? Could my longarmer handle it? She said no. The widest she can do is 105" , but it could be longer. Okay then. Now on to colors. She said brights. I can do that. Then they brought me over some Crown Royal bags and asked if i could incorporate them into a quilt. I scoured Pinterest, and came up with this.

The Ohio stars have a bit of color using aquas, greens, purples and grays. The alternating blocks will be double 9 patches. I haven't decided on the border yet. I think it will be lovely.
It's much cooler here today, only 45' now with a high of 52'. I felt like whining. So I looked up Ohio's weather, 34' now, high of 38', snow starting in 4 minutes. And just like that, poof, no more urge to whine. Well at least about the weather. No snow here, thank goodness.
Have a great day, even if i is snowing.

A New Purple Pillow

Lexi gave me this pillow when she was four years old. It is well loved. It's just the right size for sleeping on. This pillow has gone m...
